A good photo is a good photo – whether digital or analogue, whether small- or large-format. But an authentic photo must be created with light – only then is it, in the truest sense, a genuine photo, not just a digital transformation. An extraordinary expression of photography can be found when using so-called fine print techniques, among which the platinum print is certainly the most prominent example. A platinum print has a shelf life of over 1,000 years. Every photo “printed” with light instead of ink becomes a unique piece of art. Even beautiful cyanotypes or van Dykes can be created with the Platinum Printer from JOBO artisan.
The JOBO artisan PLATINUM UV printer II is large enough to accommodate contact frames with an external dimension of up to 65 x 86 cm so that 50x60 cm prints can easily be created. Its drawer is guided on ball bearings to enable easy loading and unloading. The integrated timer allows for exact exposures. The uniform UV exposure is generated by 110 LEDs from 360 to 390 nm. In contrast to fluorescent tubes, LEDs consume 80% less electricity and, more importantly, do not require a warm-up phase to reach a complete and consistent luminosity. LEDs are herewith unsurpassed in generating consistently reliable exposure times.
