Billingham SuperFlex Flap – Olive
Use the padded SuperFlex flap to stack or separate equipment, whilst ensuring protection for your gear. Works in conjunction with the SuperFlex Partitions.
The SuperFlex Flap is a padded flap that can attach to Velcro® and works in conjunction with the SuperFlex Partitions. See the sliders below for more details.
It is designed to fit in the 225, 335, 445, 555, 550, 107, 207, 307 and 307L bags, the same bags that are designed to fit the SuperFlex Partitions.
USES
Some people use a SuperFlex Flap (or even several of them together) to create compartments within their bag or to stop items of photography gear from bumping each other. The SuperFlex Partitions have one side that has fuzzy Velcro® stitched low down, this is for a SuperFlex Flap to attach to. This set up allows for gear to be stored below and some gear above the SuperFlex Flap (effectively using it for stacking).
The Flap can also be used to create 'lids' to SuperFlex Partitions – although this only works if the Velcro® strips on the inside of the bag are at the correct height compared to the SuperFlex Partitions to make this work (this depends on the combination of bag and partition).
Occasionally people use the Flap to stack gear inside a Hadley bag however most of the time they are a bit big for this, but they do work well in a few niche situations.

Specifications
FLAP DIMENSIONS
The size of the 'Superflex Flap' is 15cm (5⅞") in length and 95mm (3¾") in width.
These dimensions do not include the size of the Velcro® strip which would add about 30mm to the width measurement above.
The 15cm (5⅞") length is the same as the 15cm front-to-back measurement inside a 225, 335, 445, 555, 550, 107, 207, 307 and 307L bag or any other SuperFlex Partition.
The SuperFlex Flap is too big to fit in bags such as the Hadley Pro or Hadley Small, however a lot of people use it in these bags anyway (both the bags and the Flap are flexible so it can sometimes be made to work).

CLEANING AND CARE
Billingham bags are designed to grow old gracefully! Professional photographers usually prefer a well-worn, battle-scarred Billingham to a new clean version; however, you may wish to reduce the grime level on your Billingham so here are a few tips:
- Remove any padded inserts, dividers and the base foam.
- DON'T put your Billingham into a washing machine; the detergent will almost certainly ruin the leather.
- DON'T dry clean your Billingham.
- Place the bag on a draining board and wash the bag with warm soapy water, using a nail brush on stubborn areas of dirt (don't submerge the bag in the water).
- Wash all soap away with clear water and allow to dry naturally (airing cupboard) or at least without too much heat. Excessive heat might affect the Stormblock waterproofing or the leather. Also, DON'T put the bag in a tumble dryer or equivalent device.
- When the bag is dry carefully apply leather dressing to the binding and leather areas. We recommend Mars oil or Nikwax. Try not to mark the canvas when you are applying the dressing.
The canvas is tough, the dyestuff resistant and Billingham Stormblock waterproofing is incredible, but hard scrubbing might lighten the colour and excessive heat or exposure to acids (such as battery acid) might spoil the Stormblock so please go carefully!
PLEASE NOTE:
- When storing the bag, we would strongly recommend that you make sure the bag is dry first and is stored in a clean and dry place to prevent bad smells or mould developing. Storing it in a shed or garage is usually a bad idea.
- The cleaning instructions for removable padded inserts and dividers are the same as for the bags themselves above.
- We would especially recommend against petroleum-based shoe polishes for treating the leather as they can cause the leather to dry out over time.
